Single Card Mail Day:2023 Mosaic Scripts Tom Coughlin

I don't think there are enough coaching cards in the hobby. I know some will shrug at that, but I know not all of you will.

I would have enjoyed having owned a coach card from every coach who had coached the Giants. Would have made for a fun collection. I do though have an autograph photo from the last three, so I guess that's something.

Occasionally Panini would do some coach cards in their products, mainly Contenders. Last year they did do one with current Giants coach Brian Daboll but the prices went haywire and not something I could afford.

However, I found out this year they included legendary coach Tom Coughlin on their Mosaic checklist.

I had to have it.

I was a fan of Toms even before he became the Giants head coach. I used to like watching the Jaguars and Panthers in the 90's and Tom was a heck of a coach for the Jags leading them to 4 playoff appearances and 2 AFC Championships including a big upset run in 1996 beating the heavily favored Bills and Broncos in only the teams second season of existence.

Tom was fired by the Jaguars after the 2002 season and hired by the Giants in 2004 after taking a year off. He led the Giants to 5 playoff appearances and two Super Bowls and was fired by the Giants after the 2015 season. I kind of wished he had stayed until he was ready to leave.

I am happy to add this autograph to my collection and wished more companies would add coaches to at least one product. Maybe even add the whole team's roster, that would be nice as well. Have it be like a 800-card base set. I would be all over that and I know some of you would be to.

Single Card Mail Day: 2012 Fleer Retro Metal Blue PMG

There is just something so catchy with Upper Deck's version of the Precious Metal Gem that it makes me happy.

Not as happy as owning an original one, but still pretty happy.

One of the cards I have been chasing down the most from Upper Deck's PMG's other than the Marvel ones, is the blue PMG of Ruben Randle from the 2012 Fleer Retro product, Randle's rookie year.

It has eluded me multiple times, but finally, finally, it landed into my hands.

Isn't it pretty???!

It's also numbered to 50.

So far, I have the red and now the blue PMG of Rueben. I am still in need of the Green. Not sure if there is another after that or not. I see two on eBay and the cheapest being $149. Way out of my range.

At least I have the two I wanted most, and this card will add to my already huge lead of Randle on TCDB.

Eli Countdown To 1K: 962,963,964,965,966,967,968,969,970,971,972,973

Yes, that is a very long title to today's post but there has been a lot of Eli Manning movement recently as I continue to crawl towards 1,000.

My goal is to complete this by the end of the year, but I am not sure I will get there.

Before getting on with showing off the latest adds, I will mention if you are counting these cards as you go along, that four card pictures are missing. Where they went, I will never know. So, I will start off the countdown with those four missing ones and go from there.

Let's go! 962,963,964,965
966 is numbered to 50!

967 you can't see it but this is a Purple Lazer.

968: Base are cards too!!

969: Another new one to the rainbow, this is a blue /199

970: Prizm parallel. Looks great as a Giants fan.

971
972: The start of something new with this years Prestige.....

973:And my latest add thanks to a trade on Twitter!

This is my official number of Eli's as of today. I have 18 days left to get 27 Eli's to reach my year end goal. Can I get there? We will see.

If any of you have any Eli Manning's reading this today, please let me know by dropping me an email at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

Eli Countdown To 1K: 960,961 (A BIG ONE INCLUDED)

I don't want to waste any time with today's Eli Manning countdown because today's included a banger. A card I have dreamed about for quite some time.

Ladies and gentleman, 19 years later....I finally own...

a 2004 Topps Chrome Eli Manning!!!!! Eli number 960. Anybody who has followed me for quite some time knows this card has been one I have been chasing for years. I couldn't ever afford one, nobody seemed to ever have one for trade and it just felt this card was eluding me.

Not anymore!! Thanks to @CardsThings on Twitter for helping me finally land this in our trade.

Also included in our trade,
961:2004 Bowman 1st Edition

And one more card,

2013 Prizm Purple Cracked Ice Victor Cruz. A new Cruz to help me extend my big lead already on TCDB.

It was a quick, easy and fun trade and I suggest if you are ever looking for someone easy to deal with, check out @CardsThings.

I can't explain my excitement to be able to hold this card in person. My goal was to find a way to make this card #1,000 but it came before then. I will have to find another card to celebrate the big milestone when the time comes.

More Eli's coming up, and no before you ask, I haven't gotten to 1,000 yet.

Eli's Prizm Draft Chase

With the bye week today, there isn't any Big Blue football to watch but plenty of Giants cards to sort.

While I was sorting my Eli Manning Prizm draft rainbow for the 2023 product, I thought I would show a picture of my chase so far. And no, none of these are new to my Eli Manning Countdown.

They look much nicer in person than what my picture can capture.

Here is what I have so far and what I need that's remaining.
Gold Ice, Green, Purple Wave, Red Ice, Ruby Wave, Silver, Snakeskin, White Sparkle, Red /299Blue Wave /249, Blue /199, Purple Ice /149, Red Finite /125, Blue Ice /99, Blue Finite /89, Purple /75, Gold Flash /49, Orange Pulsar /49, Red Flash /49, Orange Finite /39, Green Pulsar /25, Mojo /25, Gold Shimmer /15, Neon Pink Pulsar /15, Gold /10, Green Shimmer /8, Black Gold /5, Black Finite 1/1, Black Shimmer 1/1, Gold Vinyl 1/1.

With three 1/1's, I don't plan on chasing it all.

But, if cheap enough, I may add the others.

Good luck to your team today if they are playing and if they aren't the Eagles, Cowboys or Commanders ;)

I have to wait until next Monday night.

Rising

Don't look now, but the NY Giants have won two games in a row after their thrilling 10-7 defeat of the Patriots on Sunday. I don't call it thrilling because of the game play by both teams, it was thrilling because it came down to a missed field goal by the Patriots at the end that would have sent the game into overtime.

With the Vikings loss last night, it only puts the 4-8 Giants two games out of the wildcard spots with five games left. However, two of those five games are against the Eagles.

That could be ugly.

With the team possibly on the rise, there was also a player that is on the rise that can get them where they need to go as well.

Jalin Hyatt finally showed why the Giants drafted him in the third round and why they were considering him a number one guy.

Hyatt made some eye-catching grabs and reeled in 5 of them for 109 yards. His first 100-yard game of his career and that's with an undrafted rookie QB.

Yesterday I got a mail day from my Twitter friend @ErichWalter that included some new Hyatts for my collection since I barely have any.

Chronicles Draft Revolution

Mosaic Base

Mosiac Mosiac Silver

Gold Standard /99

Not sure what this parallel is called from Mosaic, but it's /80

Thanks again to Eric for the mail day!!

Well, I won't be able to watch the Giants since they are on a bye this week, but I will be certainly rooting against the teams ahead of them in the wild card chase.

Then I will be ready the following Monday night when they take on the Packers. They haven't won a Prime Time game in so long I think it's time.

Winning Monday Showoff

We won!! We actually won in dominating fashion.

Yesterday, the Gmen came to play forcing 6 turnovers, having an undrafted rookie QB throw for close to 250 yards and Saquon playing like his old self.

For all of those fans that think tanking was a thing, I am all about the win and that was a great one. The Giants are only 3-8, but a playoff run could still happen but still very unlikely with their upcoming schedule.

With a winning Sunday, let's show off a card to celebrate.

Which is a new addition to my Amani Toomer collection.

2001 Ultra College Greats Preview autograph.

This is one of three of the College Greats preview cards in the set. The other two is a base version and a redemption version.

I will hopefully add the other two at some point.

Not sure if one card makes me any closer on the list on TCDB to the top for Toomer or not, will find out in a minute when I add it.

As always, I am trading for new Toomers and there are plenty out there! If you have any, contact me at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com!

Eli Countdown To 1K: 958,959

The Giants play the Washington Commanders today with a third string undrafted QB.

It makes me miss the days where we had a QB that never was injured or missed any games except the one where the coach pulled him for Geno Smith. So glad that coach was fired.

Eli Manning started 210 consecutive games for the Gmen and since then the Giants have had a single QB that can barely finish a season.

I miss Eli.

It's only part of the reason why I collect him. He is also a likable guy, won two Super Bowls which I may never see another in my lifetime and a leader.

Let's check out today's latest adds which both come from 2023 Select Draft Picks,

Gold Lazer

Purple Lazer

I have a few more Eli's on the way as we creep very slowly towards 1K. My goal would be to get there by years end, but we will see and I could use your help to get me there! I am always trading for new Eil's!

Finally Landed Him!

Every year after the draft, I try to land an autograph of every Giants rookie to add to my collection. Last year it took me the full season but I was able to pull most off all but one. Which that one shouldn't be too hard to land despite his great season so far this year.

However, in the 2023 draft, the season is halfway over and so far I have only added one of their picks which was Deonte Banks, their first-round corner and that was only recently.

The one I have been wanting the most was their fast WR in the third round in Jalin Hyatt. I have been watching his cards for months and months and months stay at $40 or so average. I felt that was a little too steep especially for a guy that hasn't made much of an impact or much of an opportunity to do so with poor quarterback play. He also doesn't seem to be on the field much.

I guess a few days ago my patience finally paid off as I not only finally landed a Hyatt auto, but also landed Eric Gray's who is the Giants backup running back they drafted in the fifth round.

The card is from Leaf Vivid and is numbered to 5/8 and looks beautiful. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't feature the players in their big blue. That's the problem with buying non-NFL licensed cards. But, it's at least an autograph for now. I can always upgrade later.

There are still others from this year's draft I need to land and add to my want list for Giants autographs. I will hopefully add that tab back sometime on here.

In the meantime, I am keeping my eyes open for the next addition.

Rodney's In 2023 Certified!

There it is. A new Hampton card for the first time in two years along with many parallels that I need to get my hands onto. This is the only one so far that has popped up on eBay, but nobody is going to pay the $20 the seller is asking for it.

Not even this Super Collector.

I just borrowed the image to have something to go by.

There are quite a few variations to go along with this Rodney including a always impossible to find 1/1.

Here is what I need,

Mirror Signatures Black1

Mirror Signatures Green5

Mirror Signatures Purple10

Mirror Signatures Gold15

Mirror Signatures Teal25

Mirror Signatures Blue30

Mirror Signatures Red35

Mirror Signatures Orange50

Mirror Signatures Pink75

Mirror Signatures Bronze99

Mirror Signatures199

I will continue to update this list and any of these I happen to pick up in the Rodney's Cardboard segment.

If any of you pull one or see any at shows, eBay, COMC, up for trade on TCDB, or anywhere else, please email me at sportcardcollector@hotmail.com and let's work out a trade!

I am excited for some new Rodney's, but also stressed about a few of them as well. The low numbered stuff is always hard to chase, but I am here for it.

Eli Countdown To 1K: 954,955,956,957

Rise and shine and check out my latest Eli Manning adds as I drive closer to 1K!
2014 Score Showcase parallel /99

Score 2013 Red Parallel /30. Scoring a low numbered parallels below $2 is always a steal.

2016 Panini Absolute Air Raid /50

2022 Spectra Championship Gear featuring Super Bowl 46. Whether this jersey was worn then, I don't know and can't remember if the back said if this was player worn or not. Either way, it was high on my want lists.

I currently don't have anymore Eli's on the way sadly, a trade fell through as well recently that would have been a really cool add, so there may be a delay in updates for my Manning chase. In the meantime, there will be more Giants cards to post. Stay tuned!

Rare Browns

I run a 90's Twitter account where I post 90's topics or inserts and parallels occasionally from my collection.

And sometimes I get replies with cards I hadn't seen before.

One of those were from 1998 in 1998 Pinnacle Inscriptions. These extremely rare cards were unreleased autograph cards that were sent out to players to be signed but were given out to fans or forgotten in someone's basement. This is according to @majeansson who posted about these to me.

I immediately spied a Dave Brown in his picture and being both big 90s collector and obvious Giants fan, I needed one. That's when he mentioned there were three variations also of the card to.

So, I hit up eBay looking for any copy of the card and found a seller who was willing to sell me two of the three variations for $1 each.

 a
Purple variation.

Green variation.

I still need the Gold Variation. If any of you spy it, let me know!

Thanks again to @majeansson for the heads up on these.

Hopefully I can track down the last one soon. Who knows, maybe this leads to a Dave Brown PC now. You never know how my mind works.... (I may have already checked into this and also noticed that TCDB does not list these cards which is how rare they are)

Eli Countdown To 1K: 952,953

To finish up my last post and trade with @_AustinFinley_., I have to show these Eli's off in a separate post so I can continue the countdown to 1k series.

Card #952 is a 2007 Topps Chrome refractor.

Card #953 is a 2022 Select Red Lazer Parallel. College uniform which isn't my favorite thing in the world, but it's still a new Eli.

Thanks again to @_AustinFinley_ for the trade! Hope we can do another sometime.

More Eli updates to come as I am driving towards my next goal.

Are They Coming Alive?

The Giants season hasn't been a great one so far, but I will say the last few weeks that have started playing better.

Yes, the Dolphins game was a blowout I guess, but they were down a lot of players, but they also forced three turnovers.

Then the defense came alive against Buffalo, a team the Giants led for three quarters with a shutout until the fourth where Buffalo took the lead and then the Giants losing at the Buffalo one yard line because the refs are blind.

The following week they got a big win at home and beat the Commanders 14-7 which put them at 2-5 and somehow only 1.5 games out of a wild card spot.

With the schedule supposedly getting a little soft right now with games against the Jets, Raiders, Commanders, Patriots could it be that this team can turn things around? For real?

I don't know that answer nor do I want to think they can. I already got my hopes up for the season and it did not pan out. Instead, I would rather just stay hobby positive and keep adding cards of theirs.

Kayvon is finally showing why the last few weeks the Giants drafted him so high.

Saquon is back from the injury and has gotten better the last two weeks.

And Danny Dimes is hopefully going to come back and play better than he has before the injury. If not, I could see Tyrod Taylor taking over for good. I personally still have faith in Danny.

These latest cards and two more that I haven't posted yet come thanks to a trade on Twitter with @_AustinFinley_.

The last two cards in this trade I will post soon. It will also give me a new Eli update :)

Single Card Mail Day:2014 Spx Autograph Jersey Andre Williams

You ever see a card so cheap you couldn't say no.

However, you felt like you already had it....

Well...I didn't after checking my TCDB of Andre Williams.

This is Andre Williams 2014 Spx rookie autograph.

It just looked so familiar, but now that I have uploaded my collection on TCDB I know I don't have it. Especially since I keep up with it.

The rookie autograph jersey cards that year are numbered to 425.

There are still a lot of Williams cards to go, so I am sure there will be more updates to come.

Mosaic 2023 Adds

With my current financial situation, I am not expecting to be able to buy much 2023 football products.

Which means I will need to find other ways to add NY Giants cards to my collection which usually means trading.

I recently spied a card from a Twitter post I felt I needed so I inquired about doing a trade with @fastlanecards and he was on board.

On his end, he received some Detroit sports and I recieved the following,
Saquon Mosaic Mosaic silver parallel.

Mosaic Audible silver insert of Saquon Barkley.

And here is the card that caught my eye, a color match blue reactive of Jalin Hyatt. I wished the Giants would get this guy going more.

And finally, a Jalin Hyatt NFL Debut Mosaic subset card.

I already have a ton of needs from last year for the Giants and it appears the list for this year will be even longer, so I am always open for more trades.

Thanks again to @fastlanecards for the trade.

Eli Countdown To 1K: 949,950,951

My Eli Manning collection continues to grow, but at a very slow pace. Feels like I have been chasing 1,000 Eli's for my collection and on TCDB for a year.

But I am getting closer.

Today, I have reached a new milestone hitting the 950+ mark closing me in to less than 50 to go.

I have also decided that it's easier to move this along when you chase cheap parallels in products.

2023 Mosaic being one of those. There is a ton of parallels with most being cheap.
Card Number 949: Silver Parallel. I still think the silvers stand out most to me.

Card Number 950:Yellow Reactive.

Card Number 951:Pink Camo. This is a good one to post this month for Breast Cancer Awareness.

One other good thing about choosing a newer product is that they are easier to find on TCDB when I am inputting them. I have become lazy with searching on the site sometimes when a player like Eli has 99 pages to go through.

A few more Eli's are on there way so stay tuned for my chase!

Rodney's Cardboard:1995 Pro Line Printers Proof $2 Phone Card

Yes, you read the title right, there is a NEW Rodney's Cardboard!

It has been months since I have seen a new Rodney Hampton card that I didn't have and today's latest add completes my needs for 1995 Pro Line Classic phone cards.

The regular $2 phone card odds are 1:6 packs, but the Printers Proof odds for the $2 cards are 1:75 making these hard to find. They are also numbered to 499.

The numbering for the phone card is on the back, this Hampton is 225 out of 499.

I am glad I have finally knocked this one down. Just one more card to go to complete all of my 1995 Pro Line needs after another new Pro Line Rodney arrives this week.

I will feature that card next Sunday so hope to see you back.

Worthy Toomers

As I continue to chase the ones well above me on Trading Card Database in terms of Amani Toomer, I have been adding some cards on and off that will hopefully drive me closer.

However, I am not adding just any cards to play catch up, I am working on tougher and more fun finds.

Especially those from the 90s.

First up, these 1996 Bowmans Best Best Cuts rookie insert parallels.

I already have the base, this is the refractor.

And this is the X-Factor. I do like the OG Ravens logo in the background and this X-factor puts today’s design to shame.

From my research, this is supposed to be a numbered parallel to 2000 Upper Deck Ultimate Victory. But, there is no numbering that I can find. Regardless, if it's an error, I still marked it as the one that is numbered until I can find a numbered version.

My last pickup was a cheap 1997 Finest Embossed Silver Refractor. These weren't easy to pull falling 1:192 packs. It is my first embossed refractor.

Even though it's only four cards and it didn't help budge me at all closer on the list, I really liked these adds. As I said, I am not going to focus on just adding cards to get closer, they have to be worthy enough to be added as well.
