Rodney's Cardboard: 2024 Finest Autograph Refractor

It's Sunday, which means another NEW Rodney's Cardboard!

I haven't done one of these in a couple of weeks, so I figured it was time.

Today, we will begin a run of different Topps Finest autograph cards I have in this chase over the next few weeks.

Rodney has 13 different autograph cards in the set and so far, I have roughly half of them.  Todays was one of the easier ones to acquire for the parallel end. The base refractor autographs are not numbered so are probably more plentiful though I still don't see a lot of them hanging around.

Hope everyone has a great start to June!

Rodney's Cardboard:2024 Topps Chrome Sapphire

Welcome back to another NEW Rodney's Cardboard!

I know the last few weeks I have bounced around everywhere with my additions, but I am doing that for you. I don't want you to have to stare at the same kind of parallel or new card every week.

This week we are taking a look at what I call the Topps Chrome spinoff in Sapphire. So, not only do I have 30+ Rodney's to chase in base Chrome, I also have Sapphire and it's seven parallels.

CRAZY!

I will admit that the Sapphire does look a lot cooler with the parallels than the base Chrome series after seeing a few pop up. I did however miss out on the 1/1 even though a buddy of mine had his eye on it.

Here's hoping that one pops up again, but in the meantime I will continue to add what I can.

Dart On

Since the Giants drafted Jaxson Dart, I have been trying to chase down what I can.

While trying not to overdo it, because I have learned from many past mistakes from adding too many cards of a Giant player I believed in and one that would stay.

Looking at you Kyle Lauletta, Odell Beckham Jr and Saquon.

I have other Darts already in my collection, but here were the latest ones I was able to add.

This one came from a RAK via Twitter.

This is one of my favorite additions, gold refractor /75 that I got in a trade.

And this one, I was lucky to have enough left on a couple gift cards on eBay and snagged it cheap. Hopefully it will be a good investment, not like my thirteen Daniel Jones autos.

I will be on the lookout to add more soon, but not over doing it or giving up too much for it.

Happy weekend everyone!

Eli Manning Countdown To 1.5K:#1,146-1,150

I haven't posted an Eli Manning update in a while, but here we go.

I am creeping closer to 1200 different Eli Mannings and with today's additions I am only 50 away from that next milestone.

This also means, I need to update the title of this chase as this post puts me to the limit.

The next Eli Manning post will be the chase to 1200 cards.

So, let's check out the lastest additions.

Base Cosmic Chrome from 2024 Topps Composite.

Cosmic Chrome Refractor from 2024 Topps Composite.

I always love space related cards and this one was perfect. Topps Chrome Cosmic Star Command, and no, not the Buzz Lightyear version.

Phoenix Treasured Tandems base insert. I really want a shiny version of this card now. These two were so dominant together.

More Eli Manning updates to come. I have a few more to share and then we will see where we are at.

Have Eli Mannings in your collection looking for a new home? Hit me up at sportcardcollectors@hotmail.com.

Rodney's Cardboard:2024 Finest Black Refractor Autograph /25

It's Sunday and it's time for a new Rodney's Cardboard.

This is actually one of my newest Rodney adds in the mail.

I have about five of the refractor autographs I need from the 2024 Finest set for Rodney. This is the second lowest numbered one I have in the run, I also have a red /5.

I actually like this one more than the red because I think the blue against the black background looks solid. More than the red does.

There are still 6 more to go in the run also including another black one which is still /25 but has like a square type of shape background.

Right now, as I type this, there are no more needs listed so hopefully some will pop up soon. I missed out on the /10 oil spill parallel which stinks, but there are still nine others that may pop up. It's when you miss a 1/1 that is the real kick.

Come back next week for another NEW Rodney's Cardboard! Have a great Sunday!

Rodney's Cardboard:2024 Topps Inception Purple /125

We are back at it again! Another Rodney, another Sunday.

This week we look at the second Rodney I have for 2024 Topps Inception. This one is the purple parallel /125.

The design is the same and the only big differences in these parallels are the background colors.

Still looks just as cool as the others. I really hope to acquire the blue soon that way I can have the team match parallel. That one is actually listed along with a gold one I need as well.

It will be the 1/1 that won't be the fun part of this chase, or any chase in that matter.

Now That's A Patch!

Adding to my Giants collection has been a bit easier with trading I do on Twitter.

It saves me money...that I already don't have...and helps make friends along the way and even add some unique cards that I haven't seen before.

One of which was the GIANT Jeremy Shockey patch card I got in a recent trade that the patch alone is bigger than a regular sized card.
See what I mean!

This thing is massively cool

I am not usually one for manufactured relics, but this one is superb.

Just look at the detail!

This now marks the biggest card in my Giants collection and finding storage or even a protector has been hard. I may have to put it in a ziplock just to have something to protect it from any elements.

How do you guys store these kind of cards?

Single Card Mail Day:2016 Panini Rookies And Stars Freshman Orientation Autograph/Jersey Paul Perkins

Paul Perkins wasn't a Giant for very long, roughly 3 years, and played behind three other running backs when he first got into the league before being named the starter later in 2016.

But, he never quite caught on, got hurt so was cut by the G-Men in 2019.

After that he traveled around the league a few times but never made another run at playing full time again.

However, I still collect him and have some pretty decent cards of him. He is also very affordable as this recent pickup was found for $2 and those are the types of NY Giants adds I will take all day long.

Rodney's Cardboard:2024 Topps Inception Green

It's Sunday which means it's time for a new Rodney's Cardboard!!

This week I am showing off my first Topps Inception add from that chase.

In Topps Inception, Rodney has a base card and some parallels. Overall, only 11 to chase as opposed to Topps Chrome which now I think has about 40-something. Seems every time I check, one hits eBay that I didn't have on my checklist. It's a weird ever-growing quest.

So far, Topps has done good with its photo selection of Rodney on all of its releases avoiding the missing logo. I am really digging the Inception design this year as I think the card really pops.

There will be a couple more posts from this chase coming up along with Topps Chrome and Finest and a rarity from the 90's.

Happy Sunday!

BLOG CROSSOVER EVENT 3: They Came Along For The Ride

Just in case you missed the first two parts of this Crossover event, you can read the First Part HERE on Sport Card Collectors followed by Part Two HERE on Cards Over Coffee to help recap rest of this mail day besides today's part.

The fun thing about trades with Oren is when he decides to throw a curveball with a couple of surprises. We usually do a two PWE's of 12 cards for two PWE's of 12 cards kind of deal and he will send me pictures of cards, and I choose what I need from those pics and know what I am getting ahead of time.

Sometimes though he will send a few surprises along such as today's cards as I only claimed ten from the pictures he sent. So, I had no idea what they were, and they were cool.

First card, only my second Gary Brightwell autograph and this one is a Contenders Variation. I didn't know it was a Variation until I saw the words at the top of the card. They blended right in with the design.

Second card, well sticker, was this Odell Beckham Jr sticker rookie. I own well over 200+ different Odell cards and not to have this sticker is impressive.

Thanks Oren for the trade again and I hope everyone enjoyed the Blog Crossover event. I might do this again.

I hope everyone has a great Tuesday and go Giants.

Single Card Mail Day:2024 Donruss Rookie Sweaters Malik Nabers

Today's mail day took quite the trip apparently.

I used one of my eBay gift cards from Christmas to acquire today's card and purchased this card back at the beginning of February. I gave the card almost two weeks to arrive and it did not, so I messaged the seller who was more than happy to hit me back with a refund.

Fast forward to the end of March/beginning of April, I received an unexpected PWE in the mail. I opened it up and found said card inside.

And I knew it wasn't a RAK or anything as I checked over the envelope and it showed that it had been shipped at the beginning of February.

I always feel awkward when this happens as I feel I should pay the seller or at least let them know it arrived, but I didn't. It's one of those weird situations as I don't know what to say.

What do you guys do when this happens to your or have you never had this happen? Let me know in comments!

Single Card Mail Day: 2024 Photogenic Brian Burns Autograph

Hey! Long time, no posts.

But Big Blue Cardboard is back!

The first post in a while on here, I am showing off one of my newest Giant autograph additions that helps knock down a want list need.

You can find that updated list, HERE.

Brian Burns was acquired by the Giants last season for a 2nd round and 5th round draft pick which looked like a steal of a deal at the time, but Burns had what felt like a down season with 42 tackles and 8 sacks. Hopefully a stronger 2025 ahead.

Like with any new player in a Giants uniform, I need their autograph in that uniform.

So, I chased one.

When I found out he was included in a Giants uniform in a couple of products, I sought out the coolest one and found that Photogenic was the way to go.

I love the photography and clean design on these. His autograph is solid as well.

With Burns down, I can now turn my attention to players from last year's draft class that I haven't added. With only a Nabers autograph from that class, I have a long way to go but it's all about the thrill of the chase.

3-Year Blog Anniversary

Hey!

Just wanted to say thanks to you that read this blog!

Today marks Big Blue Cardboard's unofficial Three-Year Anniversary.

It's really hard to write a team-based blog and find a following for it, even though I know there are a ton of Giants fans and card collectors.

There have been a lot of changes to this blog over the years including name changes, re-starts (this blog technically has been around longer than 3 years) posts being deleted (my biggest regret for doing that), layout, design, etc, etc, etc.

This blog never really quite caught on and I didn't put the effort I could have in it. Time became a factor and blogging on more than one blog made things hard.

So, I started to cheat.

I posted Giants cards and segments on Sport Card Collectors and Cards Over Coffee and whichever blog my mood was set on. I didn't break up my mail day posts to post only blue on here and all of a sudden everything became a mess and was dragged across three blogs of the same posts.

I wished I could correct that mistake, but unless I have a time machine, that won't happen. However, going forward, I can make things better on here and plan to.

Hope to see you guys stick around.

Go Giants!

Matt

Eli Countdown to 1.5K: #1,131

As we approach the 1,150 mile mark for Eli's, I thought I would start to post them again and keep you up-to-date on my chase to taking over TCDB's number one Eli collector.

I still have like 300 more to go so we have a journey still.

Tonight's Eli is from Topps first football product in a very long time, Topps Composite. This product combined a bunch of different Topps products like Panini Chronicles,

Even though it's unlicensed, it still had some fun cards.

Like this Eli. This one is a case hit known as Retro Vision.

Old TV screen, player in black and white and a refractor type shine. I think it looks pretty cool.

The only issue I have with this product is the backs. Pretty boring.

If you want to keep track of my Eli chase or have some I need, you can find there HERE.

Single Card Mail Day:2024 Mosaic Honeycomb Darren Waller

I don't know what it is, but I have been really into case hits recently.

They just look so much better than the regular cards in products.

So, when I found a Darren Waller Honeycomb, I had to bring it home.

Honeycomb parallels look exactly as you would expect, like a honeycomb.

These aren't numbered or anything. Just a case hit.

This isn't one of my favorite case hit parallels for Mosaic, I prefer Genesis still, but they still look pretty cool. Hoping to add a few more Giants, a Nabers would be real nice.

Single Card Mail Day:2024 Donruss Signature Marks Deonte Banks

Well, if you were to tell me when the season started that this team in its 100th season would finish 3-14, I would have laughed at you.

Now I am the one being laughed at as a fan.

And the Giants announced this morning they are keeping everyone and no firing of the GM or coach this year.

Welp.

Despite the team's output, I have still been collecting NY Giants cards and adding new autographs to my collection of players I didn't have yet.

I had a Deonte Banks autograph, but not one in a Giants uniform yet which is my preference. This one is from the new Donruss product that came out about a month ago. I was RAK'd this one by @willewillmcards on Twitter/X.

Back of this card is better than most Panini ones.

Thanks again to @willewillmcards!

Hopefully next year Banks will look like he did in his rookie year and not the guy he did this season that seemed to give up on plays. Would be nice also if they drafted or signed a guy to pair with him. That might help. It's all in Daboll and Schoen's hands now.
