Rare Browns

I run a 90's Twitter account where I post 90's topics or inserts and parallels occasionally from my collection.

And sometimes I get replies with cards I hadn't seen before.

One of those were from 1998 in 1998 Pinnacle Inscriptions. These extremely rare cards were unreleased autograph cards that were sent out to players to be signed but were given out to fans or forgotten in someone's basement. This is according to @majeansson who posted about these to me.

I immediately spied a Dave Brown in his picture and being both big 90s collector and obvious Giants fan, I needed one. That's when he mentioned there were three variations also of the card to.

So, I hit up eBay looking for any copy of the card and found a seller who was willing to sell me two of the three variations for $1 each.

 a
Purple variation.

Green variation.

I still need the Gold Variation. If any of you spy it, let me know!

Thanks again to @majeansson for the heads up on these.

Hopefully I can track down the last one soon. Who knows, maybe this leads to a Dave Brown PC now. You never know how my mind works.... (I may have already checked into this and also noticed that TCDB does not list these cards which is how rare they are)

Show Me The Way: 1998 Ultra Platinum Medallion

It has been quite some time since I posted a new Charles Way card. It's mainly because I haven't added any as my PC focus has been on other NY Giants players, hence all of the Eli Manning cards I have been posting.

But, when I see a new and fairly tough Way card to get, I add it.

Today's card ranks up there as one of the toughest Ways I have added to date.

I never once pulled one of these in packs of Ultra despite all of the packs I opened. There are no odds on pulling these either which is what makes them so tough to find.

There are also only 98 of these to find. Which makes them extremely rare.

Luckily my friend Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame found this one for me to add.  Thanks Shane!

Thoughts on today's card and if you own any Platinum Medallions is welcomed in comments.

Show Me The Way: 1998 UD Choice Prime Choice Reserve /100

Welcome back for a new Show Me The Way.

Today, I am showing you my latest numbered Way I landed in a mail day from Burbank Sportcards Beckett Marketplace.

I don't know if you are a 90's player collector or not, but I am finding it tougher and tougher to land some of the parallels and inserts for my player collections as prices have been driven up.

So, today's card, I felt $8 was a little steep for, but with only 100 out there and only 2 I have ever seen listed, it was better to snatch it up before it becomes a missing piece.
I couldn't find the odds-on landing one of these 1998 UD Choice Prime Choice Reserve parallels, so I assume they were randomly inserted.

The card features a shiny overlay with the words Prime Choice Reserve and the number 100 written.

Back of the card has the numbering. This one is 80/100.

This was one of two new pickups from Burbank. I have more on the way soon as well.

Remember, you too can order from Burbank Sportcards Beckett Marketplace and Save 15% off your orders from Burbanks Sportscards on Beckett Marketplace. Use Code: 15BURBANK at checkout to do so! Also spend $50 and you will get free shipping. BOOM!

Show Me The Way:1998 Topps Stars Silver

I have introduced Rodney's Cardboard, Kerry's Cardboard, then Eli's Cardboard yesterday and today I am Showing You The Way!

The fourth major player I collect gets his own segment on Big Blue Cardboard as well.

One of my three newest Charles Way pickups from Burbank Sportcards is this Topps Stars Silver parallel.

The set comes with Base, Silver, Gold, Bronze and Gold Star Rainbow.

The only difference between the cards is the foil used on the front.

And the numbering on the back. The silvers are numbered to 3999.

Thoughts on my latest Charles Way addition welcomed in comments.

Single Card Mail Day:1998 Topps Generation 2000 Tiki Barber

Tiki Barber is one of many on the list of great NY Giants running backs, but for some reason is a player I never quite chased cards of compared to the others on that list.

It wasn't that I didn't like Barber or enjoy watching him play, I really don't have a reason for not have adding many cards of him.

Instead, I am now starting to add a few of his cards to fill in some gaps. Most of the ones I target of him are from the 90's, you know, the greatest era of collecting.

Today's addition came from my buddy Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame. He is the king of finding 90's inserts for me from card shows he attends.

This 1998 Topps Generation 2000 card fell 1:18 packs and was a 15-card set featuring some of the top young talent in the game at that time. The front of the card is foil with some added rainbow shine from the 2000 on the front.

The back features information on the player and the comparisons they have to other top players in their rookie seasons.

Thanks to Shane for this latest add.

Thoughts on Barber, the card or a running back from your team that you didn't quite collect until later on are welcomed in comments.
