Rodney's Cardboard:1992 Action Packed Mint Parallel

Welcome back for a NEW Rodney's Cardboard and another football Sunday!

Today, the Giants take on the Seattle Seahawks on the road who also have been a surprise. Whoever expected Geno Smith to outplay Russell Wilson this season?? Not me.

For today's Rodney's Cardboard, I am showing off a pretty unique and rare card I never thought I would see. It isn't easy to find new Rodney's anymore but occasionally, once every few months, there is a new one that pops up.

Which is why I didn't ever expect to see this one.

This is a 1992 Action Packed Mint Parallel. The card is the base card, but completely covered in gold foil.

The back of the card is also covered in the gold foil, besides the picture of Rodney, and the card is numbered 138/500. I have personally never seen one of these and can only imagine how hard a card numbered to 500 is actually to find in the early 90's.

Thanks to my buddy Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame for helping me acquire this big need.

Thoughts on today's latest Rodney, if you have seen or owned one of these and what early 90's card are you still chasing welcomed in comments.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday, GO GIANTS!

Eli's Cardboard:2004 Leaf Rookies And Stars Masks

Yes, I know, it's another Eli's Cardboard but most of my recent Giant pickups have been Eli Mannings. I have put a big emphasis on collecting Eli right now since there are no new Rodney's ever, Charles Way and Kerry Collins can be overpriced for the players they were, so it comes down to me putting a little more stock into Eli.

Not that it's a bad thing for the future Hall Of Famer.

Today's card I have wanted for some time because I like unique relic cards for any of my player collections.
This relic card features two swatches of helmet from Eli's facemask.

These usually go for a tad bit more than I wanted to pay, but I found a steal under $5 for this one. It's all about patience for some cards.

Thoughts on my latest Eli is welcomed in comments!

Eli's Cardboard:2022 Panini Legacy Legends

I can't remember who sent me today's newest Eli Manning but thank you for it.

It appears Panini has been adding Eli Manning to every one of its 2022 products. This will make it even tougher for me to collect all of him and at this point, I haven't really been chasing too many of them yet.

One of the first ones released was in Legacy football.
Eli was included in parallels, autographs and a base card which is a subset in the base set in Legends. It's not the greatest looking card in terms of design or photo, but a new Eli is a new Eli.

I miss the old days when the back card photo would be different than the front one.

Once again thanks to the person who sent me this.

Thoughts on my latest Eli and card backs welcomed in comments.

Kerry's Cardboard:2003 Topps Chrome Black Refractor

It's that time of week again, it's time for a new Kerry's Cardboard.

On this blog, only Kerry featured in Giants uniform are welcomed. All others I don't post....at least on here. I have been grabbing other cheap ones on and off.

Today, for $1.50 I was able to land another newbie for the PC. It's shiny and numbered.
2003 Topps Chrome black refractor you can define by its black border.

And the numbering to 599 on the back.

This card is another example of why we need Topps Chrome back in our football collecting lives.

Let me know your thoughts on my latest add in comments.

Pack Pulled

I have never had good luck in pulling NY Giants from packs, this includes even base cards. Usually I have to work out a trade to acquire my needs.

However, I bought a pack of Absolute football from Walmart a few weeks ago and actually pulled two Giants cards from it.

This is the Saquon Barkley base card that was the top card in the pack. I like the look of this year's design.

A few cards later and I found a green rookie parallel of Kayvon Thibodeaux.

I would call that a successful break.

Let me know if you ever find your teams or favorite players in your packs rips in comments below.

Absolute Steal In My Mind

The Gmen are 6-1!! 6-1!!!!

Yes, you read that right and I typed it right. The 2022 NY Giants are 6-1 after beating the Jaguars yesterday 23-17.  This team continues to find ways to win and this is their best start since 2008.

That's many years ago.

The card I am showing off today is a player on that 2008 team and a name that most know because of the big Super Bowl play known as the Helmet Catch.

David Tyree was a 6th round draft pick in 2003, All-Pro and Pro Bowl special teams player, and of course the big play in the Super Bowl. He played for the Giants from 2003-2008.

In the last few years, he has signed more autographs than he had in previous years. Despite that, prices for his autographs go for more than you would expect.

When I found one for $2, I wasn't turning that down.

This marks only my second autograph of the Super Bowl champ. I have actually been keeping track of my collection of him over at Trading Card Database.  When I get the rest entered, I will update where I stand.

Thoughts on Tyree or my latest addition welcomed in comments.

Eli's Cardboard:2009 Topps Gold /2009

Last week, I showed off a Daniel Jones card that I landed for .55 on eBay and at the time thought it was the best deal I could land.

Then came today's card.

A numbered Eli Manning card that went for a whopping .24. You read that right...TWENTY-FOUR CENTS.

A good deal on this card and not a bad photograph either. Eli in Shotgun with Giants behind him in the background.

Back of the card.

I am hoping the Gmen can get a good deal on a win today against Baltimore. It won't be easy to stop Lamar Jackson but this defense has proven they can play well.

Thoughts on my latest add, especially for the price, welcomed in comments.

Single Card Mail Day:2020 Chronicles Jersey Card Daniel Jones

They call him Danny Dimes because of his throws, I call him Danny affordable when it comes to some of his cards.

When window shopping for other Giants cards, this one popped up on eBay for .55 with one day left. Being a Giants collector and one who seeks out cheap cards, it seemed like one to watch.

So, I did so and won the card for .55 and $1 shipped. I can't complain about a deal like that.

I actually haven't seen one of these relics before I saw this one pop up. I think the relic on the Chronicles base card design works well.

Back of card.

And the back actually has a real back, despite the jersey being player worn once again. I miss the game used days.

Thoughts on my latest add and if you have ever found a card under $1 on eBay before and what it was.

Score 2022 Mail Day

2022 Score released a little over a week ago and once I saw some of the Giants cards in the set, I wanted them.

Thanks to @HoopsGD, I was able to add all of the base plus more.

For the first time in YEARS, the rookies are finally featured in their NFL uniforms. Yeah, they are lame photos from the RPS, but it's better than college jerseys. This is the first cards of the rookies, minus Robinson, that I have in their Giants jerseys. Always a beautiful thing to get the first ones.

These two right here had a heck of a Sunday against the Packers. Hope both can keep it going.

Rudolph isn't a Giant anymore, but I don't mind adding cards of him still. And I have a firm belief that Sterling will be back next year.

Here are three other G-Men stars. Yes, there are four cards but I am never counting Golladay.

Danny Dimes Scorecard parallel.

And finally, my favorite card of them all. How cool is this squad card??

Thanks again to Greg for this mail day. I am trying to figure out another way to use this Squad card, maybe a nice side picture for the blog or a background. Hmmm.

Thoughts on my mail day and Score football this year welcomed in comments.

Single Card Mail Day: 2012 Panini Super Bowl 46 Patch

You guys must get sick of seeing me post over and over again about the two recent Giants Super Bowl wins and the cards that I picked up from them.

I am sorry, I won't apologize for that.

Instead, I will show off another new one I added cheaply.

I don't know the full story on these cards, but I believe Panini set up at Super Bowl 46 with special cards and this was one of them.

I am 50/50 on how I feel about manufactured relics, but ones like this I can appreciate. It doesn't involve a player and instead involves an event.

Back of the card. It doesn't list the winner and any game details, that's how you know it was given out prior to the game.

Thoughts on this card, that game welcomed in comments.

Single Card Mail Day: 2021 Obsidian Volcanic Patch Kadarius Toney

I have to admit, it's Monday morning, and I am smiling away.

Why?

Well, my NY Giants came back from double digits with practice squad wideouts, three of the four top corners out, a banged up QB and RB, and other injured players to beat the Green Bay Packers 27-22 in the London Game.

This game came down to good coaching and grit. This Giants team has a fight in them that I haven't seen in so, so long. It's a beautiful thing.

My latest pickup is of a player I am hoping that can only add to this team, if he can ever get on the field healthy.

Kadarius Toney was a first-round pick by the Giants last year and has spent most of his time hurt. At this point, I don't see him on the roster next year.

But, they could surprise me, like the team has this year.
I picked up this patch card not because it was Toney, but because it was a nice-looking patch card for $1.75.

Thoughts on the Giants, your NFL team and this card welcomed in comments!

Eli's Cardboard: 2019 Obsidian Tunnel Vision

It's Sunday, so you know what that means....GAME DAY!!

Today, the Gmen are overseas taking on the Green Bay Packers. Both teams are 3-1 and it's the first time that the UK will see two winning teams facing each other. I am not sure how I feel about this game with the Giants being all banged up with injuries.

Either way, I will be rooting them on from really afar.

Speaking of games in the UK, fun fact, the first touchdown in the overseas games was made by the guy today, Eli Manning.

In that game, he ran for a 10-yard scamper touchdown as the Giants took down the Miami Dolphins that day 13-10.
He must have had great tunnel vision to see the lane to run for that score since he doesn't run for many touchdowns.

This latest pickup I have stared at a few times because I liked the design but kept pushing it off. I figured it was finally time to pull the trigger on it.

I have my fingers crossed for the game today, but not expecting a lot. Green Bay is still a good team headed to the playoffs, even though they haven't played great this year. We will see though. Games are played on the field, not on paper.

Good luck Gmen!

As for today's card, let me know in comments your thoughts!

Kerry's Cardboard: 2004 Upper Deck Finite Finite Fabrics

It has been a long time since I posted in this series on here. It's not because I haven't been adding a few Kerry Collins cards here and there, it's mainly because I haven't lured in any needs that involve a Giants uniform.

Which are the only ones I post on here.

However, at first glance, I am sure you are wondering why I am posting a Raiders Collins card then after I just stated it was Giants or nothing for Collins on here.

That's because we didn't get to the back of the card yet.

That's where we find out that the jersey swatch featured on the front is from his time with the Giants.

Now I see you getting it.

After Collins left the Giants, he found himself in a Raiders uniform. I am impressed that Upper Deck noted which team the swatch was from. I miss these days.

Thoughts on my latest Collins add welcomed in comments!

Shane's Big Blue Mail Day

My latest trade with Shane from Cheap Wax Wednesday fame, brought me a variety of cards from multiple sports and non-sports even.

This part I am showing off for this post is all blue. There will be no other cards shown off on here.

This is Big Blue Country.
First up, Tiki Barber Throwback Threads numbered parallel.

Rookies and Stars Cross Training of Hakeem Nicks.

Team match border parallel of Mario Manningham who made that incredible catch in Super Bowl 46.

Brandon Jacobs Topps Unique.

Davis Webb Rookie Rising...or should it be veteran rising. Will be interesting if he plays this Sunday.

Another Manningham, this time a black parallel from Longevity.

Jamaar Taylor rookie cards.

Purple numbered parallels of Ahmad Bradshaw and Marvin Austin.

Willie Ponder rookie from 2003 Playoff Honors.

A few more numbered cards including Corey Webster and Steve Smith.

There were a few others I didn't show off because I will need to check to see if they were doubles or not, but I do know the next ones are real.
Jeremy Shockey Topps Draft Picks jersey

And finally,
A rookie Absolute RPS of Jeremy Shockey featuring a jersey and football RPS swatches.

Some really nice adds to my collection in this mail day. Thanks again to Shane for the trade.

Thoughts on my mail day welcomed in comments.

Hyped

I am feeling the hype today.

With the talk of the Giants having Odell Beckham Jr in the building yesterday, to check in on Sterling Shepard and not an actual visit to be signed, has got my blood flowing in hope that the Gmen will bring back the one-time Giant. I have always been a fan of his, though I was annoyed with some of the on-field antics, but the dude can ball out and this offense needs him.

The Giants basically are down to practice squad wideouts at this point. Shepard is out for the season, WanDale Robinson and Kadarius Toney have spent all season hurt, now Kenny Golladay is hurt leaving Daniel Jones not much to work with.

Richie James is pretty much all that remains as a main target. Not a household name, but he has made some decent plays.

But, they will need more than him.

I want to see this guy take a 66-yard pass half injured for a game winning touchdown like he did on this card. This is the last memory of have of Odell and it's not a bad one to have.

Will Odell have his reunion with the Giants? I still don't see it happening honestly. Will I stay hyped up about it until he makes a move? Yes, absolutely.

Thanks again to @allindz99 for this small trade.

Eli's Cardboard:2019 Absolute Team Trios Red Spectrum Parallel /100

Good Morning!

Yes, it's Monday and it's a great morning. Why? The Giants are 3-1 for the first time since 2011 and I am also 3-1 in Fantasy football. I am not sure how long either record lasts as a winning one, but for now, I will soak it all in.

I must also apologize for another Eli's Cardboard post, but he has actually been the only Giants player I have been adding recently. I need to do a re-count on him, but pretty sure I am closing in on 900 different ones.

I will update that soon.

Today's card caught my eye with its shine and the trio featured on the card.

There is Saquon, who to me is the Giants offense and Team MVP this year (besides the coach). Eli who leads them in the center. Then comes Sterling Shepard who I feel terrible for the guy as he is out again for another season. Such a good guy and teammate. Also, a great player when he is on the field.

Back of card is meh.

Thoughts on my cards and players on the card welcomed in comments.

Have a happy Monday! The G-Men are 3-1!!

Eli's Cardboard:2022 Prestige Prestigious Moments

It's Sunday, which means it is Giants Game Day.

Today, the G-Men put on the retro uniforms and take on the Chicago Bears at home. I hope it just goes better than their Monday Night outing against Dallas. I think all of the whiteout from the crowd blinded the offensive lineman from blocking for Daniel Jones. That was plain ugly.

Which is why today, I am taking us back to a better time.

Yes, we are going to look at another Super Bowl 42 card.

This card is a bit different of a Super Bowl 42 card than we have seen before. No Helmet catch picture, this one actually focuses on the bigger key part of the helmet catch play.

Which was Eli escaping the sack somehow from multiple Patriot defenders. I remember watching it live and thought, this is it, he is going down, game over. But, somehow, Eli managed to get away and threw the ball to David Tyree for the helmet catch.

Back of this card describes the play.

I added this card pretty cheap, despite it being a case hit insert in this year's Prestige. Others have gone for more than what I grabbed it for.

Thoughts on my newest Eli, this play or if you have chased any Case Hits recently welcomed in comments.

Let's Go Giants!!
