Rodney's Cardboard:WinCraft Sports Pennant

It's been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long since I last tackled a Rodney's Cardboard segment on any of my blogs.

It wasn't done on purpose. It's due to the lack of Rodney's out there. The few that are, exceed my range. One guy on eBay has 7 Rodney Hampton printing plates. SEVEN. The problem, he is asking $55 each. EACH. Maybe $15 each would be reasonable, but $55 is insane. He will sit on those for a while, already has been, and maybe at some point I can find a way to talk him down.

For now, I will just add ones that I can when/if they are listed. I am sure Panini isn't done with their run with him quite yet.

At least not until their NFL card run is done.

Today though, we are not talking about cards of Rodney....or Bruno.

We are talking about my latest add thanks to my friend @StephenJFurlong on Twitter.

On Friday, I received this very cool Rodney WinCraft Sports Pennant that Stephen had bought and sent to me just because he is a good friend.

This is the first Rodney pennant in my collection, I do have other pennants such as NY Giants and Ken Griffey Jr that are tucked away in totes for now. Someday, when I have more room, I can hopefully display all of my Rodney stuff in one area.

For now it's all around a small card room.

Here is a closer look at Rodney taking over NYC like Godzilla.

Thanks again to Stephen for this latest piece. I appreciate you my friend!

Thoughts on the pennant and if you collect them is welcomed in comments!

Eli's Cardboard:2015 Topps Chrome Super Bowl 50 Die-Cut Pulsar Refractor

You ever just have a card sit in your watchlist on eBay for so long you felt like you had to buy it?

I did just that recently.

Today's Eli's Cardboard card had been in my watchlist at least a year. I watched the seller put offers out on it every few months and I just continued to pass on it.

But there it sat.

And sat....

And sat....

Looking and tempting me every time I scrolled through my watchlist.

Until I finally had a gift card to use up and the seller once again put out an offer on it. I was afraid if I didn't take it this time, I wasn't ever going to. So I accepted the offer and it came home.
There is a base version, a refractor version /99, a Superfractor 1/1 and this Pulsar refractor numbered to 50. I only own this version so far. I don't expect to ever find or land the Super of this card, so this isn't even a tempting rainbow chase.

Back of the card discusses Eli and his two Super Bowl runs against the Patriots.

Thoughts on my card today and whether you have ever bought a card after watching it for so long welcomed in comments.

Single Card Mail Day:2022 Panini RPS First Look Wan'Dale Robinson

When it gets to this time of year, I get a little impatient for the newest Giants rookies to be seen in bib blue. Yeah, they have plenty of college stuff kicking around, but that's not for me.

I want Giants blue.

I began a search for any of the Giants rookies in blue and finally found out that rookie Wideout Wan'Dale Robinson had one.

This is a Panini Instant, cards printed on demand, card of Wan'Dale with a photo taken at the Rookie Premier Shoot.

Only 818 of these cards were printed.

Normally I am not a big fan of these on-demand cards but with it being his first Giants uniform card and affordable, this card was found for about $2, it was worth it. Especially if he turns out to be a star.

Thoughts on my latest addition and about on-demand cards welcomed in comments.

Wasn't Expecting This

In a world full of chaos, it's good to know that there are still good people out there.

One of those goes by the name Abide on TCDB (Trading Card Database).

We had just pulled off our first trade on that website and a few days after we both received our trades, he messaged me that he was sending me a surprise in the mail.

And I was definitely surprised.

A bubbler arrived and the contents on the outside did not feel like a card but felt like a book. That's odd, I thought.

Usually I wait until I get home from the mail box to open anything I get so I won't lose it, but, I couldn't hold myself back. I opened it up and this is what fell out,
along with a note that he was hoping this would fit my collection.

OF COURSE IT DOES!! This is 90's and Giants, wooo ha!

This 1996 NY Giants Official Information guide is also signed by former Giants running back Tyrone Wheatley.

A closer look at the signature. I matched it perfectly to another Wheatley autograph I own.

I not only matched the autograph, but I also flipped through the pages of course bringing back those memories of watching football with my father. And reading up on some of my favorite players from that time.
Of course, this guy popped up. Does this count for a new Rodney PC piece as well?

There was more than just player information as well.

Coaching, Scheduling, Records, etc all were in there.
I had forgotten that Dan Reeves (RIP) was the Giants coach that season and was coming off from an embarrassing 5-11 record for 1995,

Only to finish that up with a just as disappointing 1996 season where they finished 6-10 and costing Reeves his job.

Such a cool piece for my Giants collection.

Thanks again Bob! (Abide)!

Thoughts on my latest NY Giants add, Dan Reeves, Tyrone Wheatley or if you had anyone send kindness your way recently is welcomed comments.

Eli's Cardboard:2006 Fleer Ultra Platinum Medallion

It has been a while since I have posted any of my new Eli Manning mail days and updated my Eli Manning PC numbers. Life has gotten in the way and when that happens, the hobby gets pushed aside.

Always remember, this is just a hobby. It's not life. Family always comes first.

Today's card I was hoping to finally publish on here since it was given to me, and I believe in a proper thank you.

@roroweber1 on Twitter has been posting his collection of mind-blowing cards, I am talking 90's rare cards such as a Brett Favre 1997 Fleer Metal Universe Green PMG, and I love to interact with him about them. One day he noticed I collected Eli Manning and threw today's beauty out there since it was a card he owned. I inquired about a trade, but I didn't have quite what he was looking for.

It didn't matter it seemed as he felt this card needed to be in my collection somehow, some way and sent it to me.
This is a 2006 Fleer Ultra Platinum Parallel /99.

 \
It's the first Platinum Parallel I have of Eli in my collection and jumps into my Top 10 favorite Eli Manning cards easily.

Now, this card isn't as rare as the 90's Platinum were, but it's still not an easy one to find.

Thanks again to @roroweber1 for his incredible gift of kindness. If you are not following him yet on Twitter, do so. His collection is one of a kind I promise you that.
